It's a Good Question... It's a Good Question...

Who is this Jesus, really?

If you trace the lines of human history back to their absolute focal point - the single place where the Creator's intent, our shared destiny, and time itself all collide - you find yourself standing before Jesus.

He is the Absolute Center: where God's sacred promise meets the whole world.

He is not a distant theological concept. He is the living axis of reality. He is the exact place where the ancient story of Israel and the desperate longing of all humanity meet and find their deep connection.

To see Him clearly, we look through the witness of Scripture - the Torah, the Prophets, and the apostolic testimony - and the eyewitness accounts. From the beginning, God marked out a specific line of promise through His chosen people, the Jews. The Jewish people were chosen for a staggering, global, and existential purpose. They were the keepers of the sacred fire, the guardians of the covenants, and the literal line through which the salvation of the world was being very carefully prepared. The Jewish history was a century-by-century labor, waiting to give birth to a light that would flood the entire earth.

So we ask an intense and searching question: Why did so many first-century Jews - devout, Scripture-saturated, guarding the sacred fire with their lives, and total conviction - willingly enter in to follow Jesus?

It was a moment of profound and undeniable recognition. These early believers were deeply immersed in the Scriptures, and when they looked at Him, they saw a flawless, literal alignment with the prophetic markers of the Messiah. They knew the timeline of Daniel 9 was ticking down, placing the Messiah's arrival in their generation (before the Temple would fall). When they looked at His character, they didn’t see a military conqueror - they saw the supernatural humility of Zechariah’s King riding on a donkey, and the heartbreaking, selfless mercy of Isaiah’s Suffering Servant, who was pierced for their transgressions.

When He healed the blind, cleansed the lepers, and taught with a supernatural authority that bypassed the religious elite, they recognized the raw, intrinsic power of the Prophet promised by Moses in Deuteronomy 18. And when the grave could not hold Him, and the empty tomb stood as well-witnessed fact in Jerusalem, the final piece of the picture locked into place. They realized that His first coming was intentionally hidden – not to crush Rome with iron, but to exhaust the covenantal curse of sin and to heal the human heart.

On the other side of that promised stood all the other nations and peoples - wandering through their own philosophies, idols, and broken systems, searching for a way back to the Creator.

For generations, hostility and distance divided these worlds. But Jesus stepped into history as the meeting place and the bridge between the Jews and all of the other peoples. He did not bypass Israel's story, but fulfilled it. He is Israel's bone and marrow. He was the realization of God's promises to Israel. When he arrived as the realization of Jewish destiny, He opened immense spiritual gates wide to include people of the nations beyond Israel.

In Him, the salvation nurtured in in the womb of Israel broke out to the ends of the earth. The light that rose in Jerusalem was carried to the nations, not by force, but by His self-sacrificing love.

This is the stunning reality that the earliest believers – men and women who lived out the realities written in the New Testament and community manuals like the Didache – recognized and died for. They saw that He had demolished the dividing walls of hostility. Not erasing who we are; but erasing what divides us. He took the unique, beautiful heritage of Israel and then moved with it into the cultures of the nations (that receive Him) and has created a fusion of them into the "One-New-Man.".

Our world today - at large - tries to manufacture unity through forced compliance or superficial performance. This leaves us more isolated and fractured than ever before. And all of this is intentionally on the pathway toward the culminating power-play of darkness. But Yeshua offers a different reality – a composite, living unity where unique identities are preserved and celebrated. And the ancient hostility between Israel and the Church is completely swallowed up by a shared Spirit.

He chose the quiet humility of a manger, yet His mind mapped the stars. He sat exhausted by a well, fully embracing our human vulnerability, yet He remains the eternal spring that satisfies our deepest existential longings. He laid down His life in the ultimate covenant-act of love and reconciliation, and in rising from the dead, He proved that His character holds the ultimate authority over life, death, and the future.

He is both the absolute fulfillment of the ancient devotion of Israel and also the definitive answer to the world's modern crises. You don’t have to perform, and you don’t have to carry the weight of effecting your own salvation. You can simply believe into Him, rest into who He is, because He is supreme, He is entirely enough, and He is utterly beautiful.
